I would suspect that Calgary hasn't put an offer of this calibre forward. Dube and Zary are controllable young assets and the 1st rounder is a wildcard for draft lottery implications. One would think Monahan goes there and plays on the 1st line and boosts his trade stock and is flipped for more assets later. Hence Buffalo being all over this.
The silent market and the proposed December return date for Eichel post-surgery feels like Calgary may be out of the mix. This trade could have been made months ago and Eichel could have been available come October.

Agreed. That’s what makes me think this trade offer has never been made. Rumour is that no team has come close to what Buffalo wants. That trade proposal is as close to 4 first round picks as I think Buffalo could get. The trade proposal from the flames at the moment is probably more like:
Monahan + Pelletier + 1st round pick.
Which is the equivalent of 3 first round picks.
