Of course, that’s when eichel is healthy. The problem is that you’d go at least 3 months with no Eichel and no Monahan. Team would have to play some disciplined Sutter hockey during that time to make the playoffs and get to make use of the loaded roster this year.

I see the Flames, assuming they keep both Tkachuk and Gaudreau, doing alright before Eichel comes back. The Flames were playing pretty great under Sutter, following a short adjustment period, last season. They could run with the top line of Gaudreau/Lindolm/Tkachuk and the 2nd line of Mangiapane/Backlund/Coleman. Those two lines are solid and easily enough to keep the Flames afloat in or around a playoff position. If the Flames can't play at least .500 hockey with those two lines, then there are far more fundamental problems with the team, based around effort and team chemistry, that even Eichel may not be able to fix.
