That has been mentioned. The issue is: Who is going to want him?
He has a big salary, I'd imagine any acquiring team would want that retained to the max, and its not like teams are going to be offering life-preservers to acquire him, they're going to be throwing Boat Anchors.
So San Jose would be stuck paying him not to play for them.
