Having an angry and defiant Eichel on the team will be a huge distraction and a bad environment for the Sabres’ younger players to develop in.
Meanwhile, what pressure are the potential trade partners under? Anaheim, LA, and the Rangers are all rebuilding. The fanbase on CP may be impatient to get an Eichel deal done, but I doubt Treliving will get fired of he doesn’t make a deal. What’s the consequences for those GMs of simply walking away? Very little.
