Further update on the boxes.
I played Stewart Creek yesterday (awesome) and ended up playing Blues as that was what the group was doing - since I was being treated to the round as a client I didn't object. Yardage was about 6650.
I noticed a BIG difference compared to 6400. Several holes I had approach shots from around 200 or more. I bombed some drives to only just make it over trouble (number 10 for example). It was a very challenging round. Luckily, I played very well and was very good with my approach shots and ended up breaking 90 for first time this year. I have no doubt I could be in the mid 80s with a shorter tee box.
My summary - the 5 iron rule seemed to work really well for me. It seems like there is an inflection point - going a little bit longer might not make a big difference but once your are too long, you are TOO long.
