I think priority #1 for Eichel is just to get out of Buffalo, get surgery, and start playing hockey again.
Calgary might not be a place he’d prefer as a first choice but I don’t think he’d be opposed to it at all. Lots of other good players with USA Hockey here and if the Flames got him I assume they would back him and his doctor in the surgery he wants. He’s also someone who really wants to win and has never played for a coach as good as Sutter. It also seemed like his close friend Hanifin was a guy who really responded to Sutter’s coaching and praised his coaching style when asked about it in interviews. He could probably convince Eichel that Calgary is a great spot for him.
