Not going to get into all of it, but Ronaldo seems like someone who understands that a career in professional sports is typically short and he has become supremely adept at wringing every nickel out of it.
He has nothing left to prove, now its just about who is going to pay his exorbitant fees until he retires and after this pandemic there is a very short list of clubs who can afford it.

I don’t see him as a Mercenary at all to be honest. He’s seems like a guy who really cares about the history of the sport and his legacy.
Playing for City hurts his legacy at United IMO, and he’s a guy who has always cared about his legacy and how he’s seen.
I actually think he wants to go back to United and wouldn’t be surprised if this whole City thing is a bit of a ploy to put some pressure on them since the fan base would be mad at United too if they let him go to City for only $25M.
