I just don't see how bringing in a handful of substandard cast-offs improves the team? Sure, bring players in to meet roster requirements and maybe the odd longshot for a look, but the fact that this seems to be a go to tactic to fill the bottom pairs and lines speaks volumes.
We all know Treliving is going to sign at least one of these PTOs (which he almost always does) to play a role and it's quite tiring to see when you have guys like Mackey, Gawdin, Ruszicka and Philips who continue to get rave reviews internally and produce quite well in the AHL.
