My dad gave me his Rolex from 1970 that he had bought in Mexico. Apparently he won some sort of draw for a watch, and paid $100 USD to upgrade it to a Rolex. He wore it as his every day watch, so that watch took a bit of a beating over the years. I'm actually surprised he kept the box, which was nice. It finally conked out on him about 10 years ago, and he never bothered to fix it.
He gave it to me last year, and I sent it into Rolex to repair and service it. Well worth it as it's almost brand new looking now, and runs like a charm.
