There was, and likely still is, a soccer snobbery in Edmonton.
Itals, Victoria, Scottish are all well represented clubs on the Senior side. They also all like to think that they run the show for soccer in Edmonton and Alberta. And they battle over who gets to be part of and control the ASA up there regularly.
I am sure over the years and iterations of Edmonton soccer teams, each of those clubs from the city has tried to get inroads into taking control and getting their players on it, and it hasn't worked out or they've been rebuffed. Now, none of the clubs have any interest and likely are actively boycotting the support out of snobbery of past feeling slighted.
Besides the venue, the newness of the club here goes a fair way in some of the attraction, whereas Edmoton theyve had a few ongoing Iterations, something Calgary hasn't had since the Mustangs in the mid 2000s..therefore there's some fatigue with supporting a team in Edmonton, this latest one playing at a slightly higher level than the last, but in same stadium and no real link locally. Cavalry also have a strong link to a local club, which helps in getting kids from the club out, and generally feeling as part of the community, that Edmonton soccer community doesn't have and at this point, refuses to have.
