By announcing the bunt, they play right into Detroit's hands. But the decision was much worse than that:
1) Kirk is the #6 hitter, and if you take the bat out of his hands, you're putting it in the hands of the bottom of the order - and Mr DP is on deck.
2) MOST IMPORTANTLY: Kirk's mistake cost them the tieing run. Now he has the opportunity to make up for it and you take the bat out of his hands? ####ing brutal managing.
Montoyo has to go.
Then he gives Richards the hook and brings in a guy that has been struggling lately and immediately it's a 4-run game.
Grichuk is useless, but Montoyo just keeps on setting them up for failure.
