With all due respect to Scorpion, who provides a lot of great content, he does have a particular bias when it comes to style of players. Loves the Phillips type. Hates Zadorov/Tanev, etc.
I suspect Tanev will be great at the price for the majority of his contract. He plays a smart defensive game.
Zadorov - it's funny. The negative types were all bemoaning his $4.5 multi year contract they all predicted and/or his arbitration. Now they are saying $3.75 is too much and a year is too little. and they complain that Treliving has not made moves when this deal clearly leaves him some cap flexibility short term and long term.
The other thing to keep in mind is that Zadorov plays left handed LD (though he is capable off playing his off side). Long term the team has Hanifin and hopefully Valimaki. Long term the Flames have Tanev and Rasmus on the right. You don't want to be saddled with a big contract on your bottom pair. So I see this as a show me year for Zadorov and Valimaki both.
