July 28th was when the trade was made.
Here's a list of the notable defensemen I could find that signed since that date who were not RFAs (AFAIK).
Greg Pateryn
Jani Hakanpaa
Ryan Murray
Slater Koekoek
Seriously, the entire pool of viable defensemen had dried up. I do not fault Treliving at all for spending an asset to get a top 4 defenseman.
