my wife is really enjoying golfing this year, and I am thinking about the viability of a membership (annual pass - as i am not looking to buy equity/shares anywhere) for both of us for next season. I am currently buying the golf calgary card and so far it has seemed like a nice compromise.
What do you consider "breakeven"? I've played a lot more golf since I purchased a membership, and it's really not close. I can't recommend it enough to people, if you want to golf.

The thing is, it's a sunk cost. So you pay the cash and it's "free" to go play a round. Then you add in that you make friends where you play and there's that social aspect. And of course, you get addicted...or at least if you're me you do.

Financially speaking, I don't really aim to get a certain amount of rounds in and figure out whether I've come out ahead. I just know that I've played a lot of golf and it feels like a good value. I know people who pay the same amount as I do and play literally 5-6 rounds a year. That seems entirely not worth it to me.
