I don't use antivirus, just free malwarebytes and the built in windows one. Every one in our house is good at not clicking shady stuff, so we haven't had issues.
I'm just cleaning up a bloated computer with expired Norton for a senior that basically uses email, has some pictures and logs into banking and maybe plays some computer card games and stuff. But apparently can't be trusted to not click on shady links.
Cost isn't really a problem,it just needs to be hands off.

Maybe give this a try
https://www.crowdstrike.com/endpoint...rotection-pro/
has a monthly fee but real time protection and its what we use at an enterprise level (Not this version obviously). I have no personal experience with it but in looking this up I might give it a try and replace my weak AV software.
