Yeah. And any pressure to get the trade done is probably lower right now. At this point, he’s going to miss the start of the season either way. I think any team acquiring eichel should assume he won’t be ready till late November at the earliest.
If the flames do get eichel, I hope they are extremely conservative with his recovery… would rather give him extra time to come back as healthy and game-ready as possible than to rush him. We have seen Monahan play through injury and, while admirable, the diminished ability is not worth it.
Also, Eichel’s confidence in his health will be important for him to return to being a star player. If he’s going into any corner or to the front of the net focusing on his back being re-injured, I doubt he will ever be the player he was. Anyone that has had major injuries in sports can speak to this feeling - mostly at the back of your mind but sometimes you focus on it more when you take any kind of impacts/close calls on the ice. Part of it will be Eichel’s own focus/attitude and part of it will be allowing for the most complete recovery possible before putting him into NHL games so he as as confident in his health as he can be.
