Rather than trading for Tarasenko, they would be better off keeping Monahan. A top 6 centre is much more valuable than a top 6 winger, Tarasenko's injury history is much more worrisome than Monahan's, and the former comes at a higher cap hit and much higher salary.
Krebs is interesting, but I don't think the Flames are interested in a futures-only trade, and I don't think Vegas's cap would work after adding Monahan without subtracting someone with a similar cap hit.
If people are complaining that Treliving has not moved Monahan, this is the reason why. Unless the return makes the Flames a better team, trading him would be poor asset management.
