Being a lifelong Calgarian, I think many of us forget how incredible the mountains are, and even though its not in Calgary per se, its a pretty short drive before you are really in a completely different world.

Going out there tomorrow to see some places I haven't yet. Every nook and cranny in our rugged backyard is a delight to uncover.
Put 8000kms of just local rockies trips on the vehicle since the end of May...
We're spoiled with places a stones throw away that many people will fly 14 hours just to get a glimpse of.
Just look at a youtube video as "mundane" as the drive from yyc to canmore and commenters are just blown away. They want to spend a chunk of their savings just to come see these surroundings.
This is also why I don't buy Calgary from a location perspective as not desirable. Thats horsecrap. Was listening to 960 the other day and some American baseball insiders from the south said they took the opportunity to drive through the bc interior to banff and called it the most beautiful drive in the world.
I'd say we have a massive leg up on many places after you do your homework on the area.
Its good to the point where Edmonton puts out promotional videos pumping the fact that they're a 5 hour drive from it, because its the very best thing they have to grasp on to.
