Back on topic: Neal’s issues should have been known and didn’t have a lot to do with advanced stats, though those weren’t good either.

People learn on the job. I think Treliving will never make a mistake like Neal for the rest of his career. I imagine due diligence and “process” about free agents has become a little more thorough.
