I would counter that
- Every coach he has played under has not been willing to trust him with increased minutes or responsibility
- The reason he dropped in the draft was because there was uncertainty over whether he was more beyond just a great skating dman. Those concerns seem now to be well made.
- When offered to the entire league, with a reasonable salary, the entire league declined to take him.
So one must believe that there's something you are seeing that the hockey community at large isn't.
This isn't lack of opportunity. This is a player not being good enough.
