I'm surprised that no one has played the Gaudreau and Monahan need to fix their nutrition and diet yet.
I do find it interesting how MacKinnon had a good rookie year than had three straight years where you can effectively argue that he underachieved. It seems to line up with Zadorov's remarks where he took charge and changed his own diet and training routine and saw huge gains in his own performance, and insisted that everyone else on the team also do the same. It does seem to have catapulted his own game, and as a result the team has improved too.
Who knows when it's too much though. After game one in round two, Vegas pretty much man handled them and made MacKinnon ineffective in those games. Was it because the Vegas has a better team, or because Vegas was better coached, or how does it all add up when every minute factor is considered? Back when Chris Pronger supposedly suggested the Flyers all pledge for a dry February that Jeff Carter and Mike Richards didn't agree with those two were sent out of Philly shortly after. Those two eventually ended up in L.A. and won two cups...the Flyers really have not done much since trading those two. Did those two completely change their ways after? I don't know.
Even with the Jordan comparison's from what I remember it was after they had won where he really started to rail harder on his team mates. The thing that I took from the Last Dance was that Phil Jackson really had to guide him to understand how much he needed his team mates to become a champion. He couldn't simply beat the Pistons by himself which was what they were trying to do before Phil Jackson. After winning one championship he started demanding more of them to keep winning because he grasped how hard it would be to continue doing so.
Regarding the Flames, something had to happen that prompted the team to remove Ward and put Sutter in place. We can speculate as to what exactly it was, but something had to prompt them to remove Ward that shortly into the season and bring in a veteran guy like Sutter in his place. Whatever it was had to be something compelling enough to make the team believe it had to be addressed pretty urgently to make that move and that it could get quite bad if not addressed right away. I don't think this was some out of patience owner trying to save a 56 game season with no fans, it had to be something more.
