Make sure you put a read receipt on the email. If there's time go into his sent items, edit the sent email to include somebody he wouldn't want on there. (A higher tech twist on Fotze's original post.)

We once got in trouble for this so we don't do it anymore, but we have a public email folder for posting miscellaneous things in... when people leave their computer unlocked, they end up posting messages in thei public folder. My favorite one went something like this:
I have lost my left shoe. I HAVE THE RIGHT, I just lost the left one. Can someone please return it to me? My foot hurts.
