It's a little bit different, but the hockey tournament is the marquis event of the Winter Olympics.
If we (the NHL/west) don't go, Russia wins. Which isn't any better, morally or geopolitically.
Our way produces the best players of the best sport in the world. Theirs doesn't.
That's a message worth sending.
