I think Drury got a bit of a bad rap. It was really just his natural demeaner to be melancholy. Some people are just like that. Even Colorado fans used to say he always seemed sad for some reason. I get this all the time from people myself.
I also think the constant insinuation that he was pouty was a self-fulfilling prophecy and the fanbase chased him out to a degree. I recall one reporter asking him if he would re-sign and Drury seemed honestly offended by the question and said he sure hopes the Flames wanted to keep him.
Sometimes the insecurity of the fanbase is our worst enemy.
