Just because a players wants to be traded doesn't mean you trade them for a poor return.
Honestly I'd be pretty disappointed as a Sabres fan with the potential return from Calgary as opposed to Anaheim, LA, New York. They all have young high end prospects. The Flames have none. If you had to bet on whose 1sts will be better I'd bet on Anaheim or LA before Calgary as well.
I'm on board landing Eichel but I feel Buffalo would much prefer taking deals from those teams. In the end maybe their ask is too high so Flames are one of the teams left by default but unless the Flames overpay I feel Buffalo would just wait it out until they got a return they liked. I suppose it depends on how adamant Eichel is about leaving but ultimately it isn't his call.
