It sounds like the Sabres want to trade to the Western Conference. If the Knights are out (per announcement), and the Kings are out (Danault), then the only competition may be the Ducks. If the Ducks are willing to go all out, their futures trump the Flames’ futures. But are they willing to spend the futures the Sabres will really want (Zegras, Drysdale) when they’re just starting to rebuild? I doubt it. I bet the Flames have a real chance to get an elite centre. They must get the player this time.
