PP goals are not indicative of a good defenseman. If they were Brad Richards and Laine would be considered great D-men
There might be a deeper dive than the playoffs.... I guess that would be the Olympics and the Canada - Russia series from 1972 and the Canada Cups 1976 thru 1991.
Try to name an important D-man that did not have great playoff moments. Randy Carlye is the closest one that comes to mind. A Norris trophy winner that never was a playoff hero or at least an important player on a winning playoff team All the Norris winners outside Gio , Caryle and Adam Fox were playoff hero's at some point
