Montreal has never really had what the Sabres wanted in an Eichel deal. Minnesota has legitimately tried, but they're not there. They remain very interested. Los Angeles has been in-and-out, but I don't think they're in it anymore.
Peyton Krebs is absolutely what the Sabres are looking to get out of Vegas, and the Golden Knights are reluctant to give him up. I'm sure there are other teams in the discussions.
St. Louis makes some sense, but I'm not sure how real it's ever gotten. From what I've heard surrounding the Rangers, the asking price and demands haven't even been close. Does Buffalo have another outlet here?
Anaheim remains in on Eichel discussions and they have taken real runs, but they haven't gotten to where Buffalo wants to go.
The longer this gets put off to determine what procedure Eichel is going to get, the more questions come up about his availability during the season.
I think Kevyn Adams has been bold with these trade discussions. It's been a tug of war, and I don't think other teams see any way Buffalo wants this to go into next season.
What happens with Eichel's medical situation? At some point in time, he will have to get some work done on his neck. He will be a target for other teams if he plays still banged up.
Does Buffalo really want Jack Eichel to be at training camp next season? Even if he has surgery, the timeline for recovery varies, and that's if everything runs perfectly. It could happen that way, but there's no guarantee.
