Aside from Lazar, what other ones were there? Lazar was a mistake, a gamble that another team’s young asset was underperforming because of poor deployment. Turned out he was what he looked like.
This is still a bullet in the chamber, it’s just one with a shorter firing sequence and a higher chance of hitting the target. He was only available because Boston already has 2 starter-quality goaltenders and he would have had to go through waivers. And I don’t think a player of this calibre would have gone unclaimed.
