It will depend on the finishes and materials. If this was brick/concrete it would fit right in with a 70s brutalist architecture failure that should be knocked down before it was built. It looks like something that fits into the Stampede grounds of today, in the vein of the monstrous Grandstand and Big 4 buildings.
The shape overall is extremely uninspiring. It looks like a big solid U or a fat tug boat with no flow and lacks the brightness and transparency of modern architecture. What will it be called? The Horse Shoe Dome? Whoever chose the renders including the new official one chose lighting that makes it look dark and oppressive. Dialog is good on execution but local shops have never been great designers.
I think we all have a right to be disappointed. Taste is personal but by the time all is said and done we will all have contributed our personal tax dollars into this.
