The Flames still have 11 more months to sign Gaudreau. The fact that they haven't traded him probably shows that they're fairly confident they can. They might be wrong, but just because he didn't extend already doesn't mean they are.
I mean, Landeskog just re-upped with the Avs right before he hit free agency, and it was reported before he signed that they were not close at all. Things can change quickly, and people need to not freak out because it isn't done yet.
Freak out in 11 months if he's not signed and not traded.
