I would say it is still a bit too early for Parsons. He is retained in the organization for a reason.


I would also add that Zagidullin was tried, but he wasn't retained. There have been many goalies on the Flames that have been tried, but outside of Rittich, none that have shown themselves capable enough to be a backup.


Parsons needs to stay healthy and get some games in. Hopefully his development hasn't been impaired because of them.


Wolf is raw, with nice upside.


Chechelev might be better than we think - but I wouldn't keep a spot open for him.



Sergeev was just selected, so obviously needs time.


Flames have always given a fair shot (sometimes been too patient, IMO) with some of their former goalies. Irving and Ortio both got decent looks (and didn't amount to anything, even as backups). Gillies got a few looks, but couldn't stabilize at the AHL level. MacDonald never found any consistency.


It is funny - the last goalie prospect that I really liked was Brossoit, and I wasn't happy about giving him up. Has become a pretty good backup. I like Parsons a lot still - but he has to stay healthy.
