This is literally just all Treliving ever does. He also now has his star forward in the last year of his contract where that star forward has a very restrictive NTC.

I think he got some great value in these moves and has filled big holes in the roster without totally blowing the budget. Each of these have high potential to be sneaky-good adds to the team. And with cap space still to burn - likely more to come.
You know the margins between winning and losing are so tight, you mix these additions in with a full season with Sutter........... it wouldn't surprise me at all if the Flames take a big step forward, just with these changes. Never mind the possibility that there could be another change or two still up Treliving's sleeve.
I thought Treliving had an excellent day today. For sure this team will be more difficult to play against, be more accountable in all zones of the ice, and will compete harder compared to what we saw last year. And they will be better defensively.
Still not convinced about the offence, and would still love to see something done there, but so far so good, IMO. I think this is a playoff team again.
