If he's traded to the Flames, he's still going to want surgery. If the Flames block him from getting it, why would we be any better of a location for him?
He's going to miss the entire season and I'm not sure the Flames window is going to last much longer. (I think the window is firmly closed on the current group.)

Eichel’s neck situation is more nuanced than that, as he might not get surgery at all this offseason depending on how conservative measures have fared, might get the surgery he wants which will keep him out a shorter amount of time, or might get the fusion which will keep him out longer.
And you’re wrong on the window front. Based on the age of the group, the contracts, and the talent, this IS the window. Time to go for it is right now.
