If he's traded to the Flames, he's still going to want surgery. If the Flames block him from getting it, why would we be any better of a location for him?
He's going to miss the entire season and I'm not sure the Flames window is going to last much longer. (I think the window is firmly closed on the current group.)
We could be trading Shane Wright for Eichel.

Even without Eichel for a year the Flames are not going to be nearly bad enough to be picking in the top-three at the draft.
