Being bad enough to win a lottery is almost as hard as it is to be good enough to win a championship, and I don't think a team can manufacture that sort of on-ice ineptitude. I think that no matter what happens the Flames are still at least two years—probably three—away from entertaining any sort of plausible rebuild for elite-level talent in the draft.
