Player pulls himself out of contention because he felt he needed to spend some time working on himself so he could earn the right to be drafted by an NHL club.
Montreal drafts the player and tells him not to come to camp because being an NHL is a priviledge not a right.
This kinda like your mom yelling at you to stop playing video games and do the dishes when you're already half done them and currently up to your elbows in dishwater.
