No, I’m a fan of a very cynical team and I’m trying to cope, just like everyone else, so you can kindly dispense with the theatrics. The Flames have made it very clear that they would rather have a consistently mediocre team than one going through the short-term pains of a necessary rebuild.
In that context, I just hope they can ice a slightly more competitive team with fewer critical gaps. But I also recognize this is not a desirable place to be for those kinds of players, and the lack of commitment to building a strong asset base has weakened the Flames’ ability to compose a competitive package for said player.
I hope for the best but always expect some awful half measure sold with a spin. And I’m usually proven right, because I’ve been following this team for a long time.
