Default The 1976 Chowchilla bus kidnapping

Not sure where else this should go but the story is incredible, and well told, so I thought it deserved its own thread.

The article about the event is a long read but worth it. It reads like movie and it's not surprising a movie was made from the story. Apparently it's crap so I wouldn't be surprised if we see another movie or series made about it.

This happened before I was born and I haven't heard anything about it before so it was a compelling story to read.

In 1976, a school bus carrying 26 children and their driver disappeared from a small California town, capturing the world’s attention. Forty-five years later, we revisit the story.

Quote:
The aerial search is already underway.

There are about 400 reporters, one for every 10 people in the whole town. The Salvation Army has brought a food truck from San Francisco. Pac-Bell has brought 60 press phones and operators. Parents keep an all-night vigil at the police station.

It is the largest kidnapping ever in the United States.
