This isn't a huge contract but it may be a bit pricey if you bring on ice shooting percentage into it, and factor in adding the other Sam and maybe taking a bit of this Sam's ice time away.

A good example ... Yamamoto.

In 19-20 Yamamoto produced at 3.16 Pts60 with an on ice shooting percentage near the very top of the league at 12.45%. This year he's back down to Earth at 1.28 Pts60 and an on ice shooting percentage of 8.56%.

Was pretty predictable.

Bennett averaged about 1.45 Pts60 in Calgary, and was 1.60 Pts60 last year in Calgary. His average on ice shooting percentage was about 6.75% in his last few years in Calgary which was a bit low (unlucky). In Florida in 10 games he had a Pts60 of 4.87 and an on ice shooting percentage of 10.75% which would be about 35th in the league five on five.

Better linemates to some degree, but the numbers suggest a correction downward is coming.
At the end of the day, Bennett needs only produce at a 0.5 ppg clip while logging 18+ minutes a night to be above average value for this deal. It's not even the offensive production, it's his two-way play at center and his PKing that were welcome additions to his team.

Playing with Huberdeau it's not crazy to expect that 0.5 ppg clip to be closer to 0.75ppg, which would be a gross outperformance of the AAV.
