I like Sam Bennett, and was glad he found success.
I like what he brings ... but was certainly starting to wonder if he'd ever find a role in the upper half of the roster.
This isn't a huge contract but it may be a bit pricey if you bring on ice shooting percentage into it, and factor in adding the other Sam and maybe taking a bit of this Sam's ice time away.
A good example ... Yamamoto.
In 19-20 Yamamoto produced at 3.16 Pts60 with an on ice shooting percentage near the very top of the league at 12.45%. This year he's back down to Earth at 1.28 Pts60 and an on ice shooting percentage of 8.56%.
Was pretty predictable.
Bennett averaged about 1.45 Pts60 in Calgary, and was 1.60 Pts60 last year in Calgary. His average on ice shooting percentage was about 6.75% in his last few years in Calgary which was a bit low (unlucky). In Florida in 10 games he had a Pts60 of 4.87 and an on ice shooting percentage of 10.75% which would be about 35th in the league five on five.
Better linemates to some degree, but the numbers suggest a correction downward is coming.
