I would have to agree with this statement more than any other mainly because I've seen a lot of that happen. Their cultural understanding, or lack of it, can cause so many things to happen... those who are intrigued by other culture definitely has no problem, but those who are not don't usually end up quite well.

Signed, white guy married to a Japanese gal. Most of my friends here in the same situation didn't seem to get too much fuss. (In Japan, I think the cut off is country of origin rather than race - an Iranian friend of mine who owns his own restaurant had a hell of a time with his inlaws, but that's the only story I've heard of).

Well, I'm only speaking from experience after dating a couple Japanese girls (In Canada). I sure that some of them are quite open to other cultures, not all, but soeme.
