Yes, but he's an expiring contract so his new contract isn't eligible for an 8 year extension except for the team that had him on their reserve list as of the last trade deadline. So Edmonton needs a "sign and trade" scenario if he's getting 8 years.
Seth Jones has another year left, so the same rule doesn't apply. He can sign 8 years with Chicago as of July 28th.
