That's a valid question, and I would hope (if there is a deal) that a) it is less than 6 years, b) that it isn't for top 6 money, and c) that the Flames are not penciling him in to the top 6 for that length of time.
To me, he is a middle 6 guy that could be pushed up the lineup when needed, but be on the 3rd line when all pistons are firing (similar to Backlund)
