I like this trade and don't mind the rumored third round pick at all. But then again, I initially view most of Treliving's work quite positively, and yet here we are again trying to figure out how to get back into the playoffs. Nevertheless, here's what I do like:

Physical, shut-down, right winger who can kill penalties is a hole on this team. Someone who will almost certainly fit into Sutter's system very well - which is a good thing for as long as Sutter is the coach. This trade checks something off that was absolutely on the "to-do" list this off-season.

Not many third-line RW players of this quality on the free agent market for $1.75M. We saw what was on that market last year: Simon, Nordstrom, etc. We tried that last year and it didn't work. I'm ok trying to address this gap through trade this year.

The only other route I may have wanted to try was whether or not an internal player could step in and fill a spot on the 3rd line like Pelltier or something like that. But Sutter/Treliving understand that better than I ever would.

So I like it. Hopefully it works out well.
