Pitlick is a guy that clearly fits a role on this team as a third line RWer that can play on a shutdown line.
What I see shaping up so far is a clear definition of top 6, shutdown line, energy line.
TOP 6: Gaudreau, Lindholm, Tkachuk, Mangiapane, Monahan
Shutdown: Backlund, Pitlick
Energy/Size: Lucic, Ritchie
Undefined right now: Dube, Zary, Pelletier, Phillips, Gawdin, Ruzicka

Backlund and Pitlick has the makings of a very good shutdown line. Lucic could play there too.
It will be interesting to see if the Flames spend money on a veteran centre like Brandon Sutter or if they go cheap and sign a Trevor Lewis and have him mentor Gawdin. Also depends on what happens with Monahan and if Backlund stays as the "third line centre".
