That's the thing. Hyman played alongside Matthews and he produced. The Leafs still couldn't get out of the 1st round of the playoffs because he can't elevate the team's best players. Teams have to be mindful of spending on complementary players. I have no doubt Hyman would immediately help the Flames but ultimately it won't matter until players like Monahan, Gaudreau, Tkachuk, Backlund start bringing their A game when it matters. When Hyman's in his 30's and playing 3rd line minutes he's going to be the most popular player on the forum as fans rack their brains on how the team can get out of that contract and what team may take him in a trade.
