I also remember Treliving saying in his end-of-season presser that Tkachuk didn't skate a lot last offseason. Add in all the speculation about the Muzzin incident and I don't know what to believe as to why he seemed off. |
I guess only him and the team know what happened, but being the son of Keith, I'd get part entitlement is playing a role here, regardless of any injury. The team would be inclined to give him a free PR pass to cool down this off-season and hopefully come back strong, but I think he sulked after teammates had enough of his oft-unnecessary antics. While I wouldn't want to deal him based on this years' value, I ultimately don't think he'll take a penny discount on his next deal. So if he's going to be a baby unnecessarily, and he won't take a discount to be here in the future, pick your moment to maximize his value, either now or next season.
