By changing the letters or how it is typed, does this make the quote any less true? Does it make it any less insightful? Is it still adding to the arguement? Then what is the big deal?

Presentation is important. Would you write that way on a resume? Or maybe I should write all my posts in a code, and the reader has to decrypt them? The message is still the same.
It's all about context, in an irc channel typing that way is fine since only other people who really think you are 1337 to type that way will want to bother reading it.
If someone wants their ideas to be read and understood, you'd think they'd want to make it as easy as possible for the other person...
