After reading about Backlund as captain of the Swedes and all the accolades thrown his way after that tournament win by coaching staff and his teammates, as well as tenure and vet status he would be my pick. He has also had a couple of great leaders in Iginla and Giordano to emulate.

Tkachuk is another good choice if he really is staying.

I wouldnt choose Lucic or Tanev, not enough time in the organization and I look at them as soldiers on the team. Dont see the reason to burden them w the C.

One only has to talk to Monahan for 5 minutes to realize why he isn't captain material.

Mangiapaine hasn't had enough time in the league, doesn't make sense to slap the C on him now.

Not sure if the players would take a vote or Sutter picks his man.

I could also understand reasoning to have 4 A's instead of the C.
